Danielle Smith is a new social studies teacher at Cape this year. She can create a lively atmosphere for her friends and students in the classroom. Before transitioning into high school, she was a staff member and coach at Beacon Middle School. She enjoys teaching high school students with a higher level curriculum compared to middle school.

She’s been teaching for ten years and loves to teach social sciences. She believes its importance has a great effect on our society’s room to improve. In a recent interview, she explained, “ I love all social studies, I find them all very interesting and think they are the most important subjects for our society to improve. I think your generation will be the ones to change the world so I want to make sure you are experts on all things related to social studies by the time you leave high school.” With this being said, Smith has confidence in teaching social studies in order to improve this generation’s output in the world.
For entertainment, Smith enjoys the outdoors. She loves hiking, biking, and going to the beach and paddle boarding, politics, shopping and she adores being a sports mom. Being a mother to four children, she tries to find a balance between her work and life at home. Due to this factor, she made a choice of resigning from being a coach after coaching for many years. She confirms stating, “I actually ended up resigning from coaching field hockey and lacrosse so I could make sure I attend all of my son's varsity football and lacrosse games.” Whilst at home, she stills continues to lesson prep, but she makes sure she is in her family room.
Her favorite part of teaching is her students. She loves children and believes they are the key to the future. She claims, “I think any kid can learn anything from a person they like and respect.” Smith is an excellent example of what is needed at Cape, a hard working, motivated person that can be a great resource for the students. Smith will be welcomed to the school with open arms, like she does for the students and staff members here at Cape.
