Jensen’s Journey

Shane Jensen has had a huge impact at Cape over the past 15 years, whether he is teaching, coaching, or just talking with his students.
Jensen graduated from Cape in 2005 and majored in Social Studies Education at the University of Delaware, graduating in 2009. He began his teaching career at Laurel High School, coaching the wrestling team and teaching Math Special Education. At Cape, he first taught CP and Honors World Geography, and was the first teacher to teach that class. After around 8 years, he added some AP classes to his schedule. He enjoyed teaching all levels, but he said, “I enjoy and appreciate the depth that I can get into in terms of the material with the AP courses.”
Jensen grew up enjoying wrestling, and became a coach at Laurel before he started teaching there. After 3 years at Laurel, he became an assistant coach at Cape. Jack Hudson, a Cape wrestler, says “He’s a great coach, he gives great advice and it really helps me persevere during my matches and practice.” Another student he coaches, Hudson Senard, says, “He pushes me to my max effort to become a better wrestler since 9th grade.”
If you know Mr. Jensen, you know he’s a passionate teacher and coach who has a strong impact on his students’ success and guides his athletes to be more successful and confident.
