The Philadelphia Phillies’ roster is stacked from start to finish with top-tier players who all are taking their shot at redemption this October. The team competed in the World Series in the fall of 2022, falling short to the Houston Astros after a remarkable season, making Philly history. While the Phillies have ruled the National League (East) Conference, teams in the American League East tremble in fear at the notion of playing the Baltimore Orioles. In the 2023 season, the Orioles dominated the league for the first time in over a decade. With a 101-61 record, Baltimore fans are on the edge of their seats to see just how far into the playoffs the ”O’s” will go.

The City of Brotherly Love lost the championships in two major league sports last year, both the Eagles and Phillies walking away empty handed from stellar regular seasons, and they bounced back hungrier than ever. The Phillies closed the season clenching second in the National League East, behind the Atlanta Braves. Head Coach Rob Thomson was brought from the bench staff after the Phillies fired Coach Joe Girardi due to their 22-29 start in 2022. Thomson effortlessly led the boys to the World Series, and is determined to get the team back there to handle unfinished business.

The last time Orioles fans got to sit back and enjoy baseball was pre-2016, when they lost to the Toronto Blue Jays in the American League Wild Card round. 43 years have passed since the team had a season with over 100 wins, an astounding achievement in itself, especially with a team so young. With a .623 win percentage this season and what should be a thrilling postseason, the O’s have their weapons locked and loaded this October.

Living in an area near multiple cities with big-time sports teams, getting to see the camaraderie and friendships that unfold make professional sports special. With Baltimore and Philly relatively close to Southern Delaware, the beach is packed with Phillies and O’s fans who are consumed by the daily MLB media updates. This World Series will be an exciting one, these teams coming back for vengeance and others just trying to make a name for themselves.
