On Sunday February 2, 2020, Super Bowl 54 was held at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida. This Super Bowl was a real comeback story with strong messages in the performances.

The US National Anthem was performed by Demi Lovato. Later on, the halftime show featured Shakira and Jennifer Lopez. Throughout the performance, the background held some hidden messages. The secret theme was immigrants coming to America and the struggles they face while trying to start a new life. Both artists have strong ties to their respective communities as well as the overall Latin American community. Their shared performance had children in cages symbolizing children being separated from their families once they came to America. This performance was a stand against President Donald Trump and his opinions on controlling the US and Mexico southern border.
The game itself was a show as well. In under ten minutes in the final quarter, Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs made a historic comeback on the San Francisco 49ers. The score was 20-10 at the end of the third quarter and then the Chiefs went on a run to score 21 points in about 8 minutes. The Super Bowl 54 MVP was Patrick Mahomes with a QBR of 61.6 passing, 26/42 with 286 yards passing, 2 touchdowns, and 2 interceptions. He also had 9 carries for 29 yards and a rushing touchdown. “It was a good game, but the 49ers really let me down,” said junior Tyler Husbands. Junior Ethan Hazzard said, “I bet 20 dollars on the 49ers and sadly they did not win.” This was the Kansas City Chiefs’ second Super Bowl since 1970.

The Super Bowl is also good because it can bring family and friends together. People have Super Bowl parties or go out and eat with family to watch the game. When I asked junior Wilz Hickman what his favorite part of the game was he responded with, “The experience of watching the game with friends at Grottos Pizza.” The Super Bowl is a good time for families to spend time with each other across America. Luckily, this year's Super Bowl was entertaining for families at home to watch.
