This year, a new staff member has joined Cape’s school-grounds. Constable Robert Mitchell is excited to keep the students, staff and visitors of Cape Henlopen High School safe. You can spot Mitchell migrating around the school, where he is making sure students are doing the right thing, at the right time, no matter the area.

Mitchell came to Cape because he enjoyed working with both students and staff members where he previously taught in New Jersey. He wanted to continue that experience in a new area, landing him in Lewes.

In his free time, he states,“I enjoy spending time with my family and I love to attend as many sporting events as I can, I am an avid Mets, Jets, and Knicks fan.”

When asked about how he felt about transitioning to a new school district, he exclaimed, “I was slightly nervous but excited when I started to substitute at Cape. Like any new job, you want to do your best and be accepted in a positive way by students and staff. So far, it has been great.”

He works alongside his fellow Constables, our school’s resource officers, staff, and students. This positive environment is where he has received the motivation to show up every day with compassion and courage to help make Cape a welcoming space for everyone.
